France claim back-to-back Olympic golds in men's volleyball

In front of a very loud home crowd, France claimed a second consecutive Olympic gold medal at the Paris Games with a 3-0 win against Poland on Saturday.

France were dominant to take the first two sets 25-19, 25-20 but had a dramatic end in the third and final set.

The home team were leading 24-19, needing one more point to seal the gold medal. But the Polish side, the top ranked team in the world, surged to close the gap to 24-23 as tension increased at the South Paris Arena.

A serve error by Wilfredo León, however, handed France the win.

The United States claimed the bronze medal on Friday, beating Italy.
