Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a rare move, apologized on Sunday to the family of slain hostage Alexander Lobanov for the fact that he and five other hostages held in Gaza were not rescued alive.

Netanyahu's office announced that the prime minister wanted to speak to other families during the course of the day.

"The prime minister expressed deep regret, and apologized to the family, that the State of Israel did not succeed in returning Alexander and the other five hostages alive," the statement said.

Netanyahu's military adviser had returned in the morning from a visit to Moscow, the aim of which had been to advance efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza war, according to the statement.

Alexander Lobanov and other hostages were also discussed during the Moscow meeting. Lobanov, a father of two, had both Israeli and Russian citizenship.

Not to sound unsympathetic to the grieving families of those unfortunate hostages, but in the last hour more than ten times as many innocent Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza and the West Bank.Where are the tears, the outrage at those brutal and senseless deaths? In fact the total number of Palestinians murdered in the last few months could fill a Sports arena, yet where is the around the clock coverage and moral outrage for that? Hypocrisy is really an ugly look from those who claim to hold the moral high ground.

Israel is supposed to be a god-fearing country, but their leader is a pathological liar. God gave us the land.... You mean the same God that wouldn't let Moses into the promised land because he snapped at a rock. The God who has a low threshold for haughty leaders? It's a nation of fraudsters.
