After reaching the quarter-finals of the US Open, Germany's Alexander Zverev has moved up two positions in the ATP rankings to reach second place, his previous best mark in his career.

Zverev was last ranked second two years ago, after which he dropped to 27th place due to his serious ankle injury.

US Open winner Jannik Sinner remained first in the rankings published on Monday, while French Open and Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz stayed in third and record Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic dropped two positions to fourth.

Both Alcaraz and Djokovic suffered shocking early exits at the US Open, which ended on Sunday evening.

The WTA rankings remained unchanged in the top two, with Poland's Iga Swiatek leading ahead of US Open winner Aryna Sabalenka. But Jessica Pegula took third place, moving up three positions after her run to the US Open final.
