The great atmosphere at the Paralympics in Paris has fuelled the desire of many German athletes and officials from the German Paralympics Committe (DBS) to have the Games on home soil.

"Maybe I won't be there as an athlete, but how cool it would be to be there as a spectator. I can only ask everyone: Please, please support this," said Juliane Wolf, who won silver and bronze in table tennis in Paris.

Two-time table tennis silver medallist Thomas Schmidberger added: "I'm a huge fan of this idea. What must it feel like to play in front of your own people? I wish every athlete could experience that once in their career."

But Karl Quade, the head of the German delegation, first called for the unsuccessful bids of the past to be analysed.

Leipzig's bid to host the 2012 event failed in the pre-selection process, while the people in Hamburg stopped the project for 2024 in a referendum.

"Some mistakes were made. I would like to see a review of the unsuccessful bids - in my view, this is missing," Quade said.

"We have seen that here (in Paris): If you want to bid for an event like the Olympic and Paralympic Games, you have to stand completely together," he added.

Meanwhile, it is undisputed that the DBS supports the organization of the event in Germany.

"The Olympics are the pinnacle of a country's sporting development. It brings so much: Sport, awareness, life, but also money," DBS president Julius Beucher said.

The German government has also taken a clear stance and German Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser recently signed a declaration of intent to host the 2040 Games in Germany.
