Bayern president vows to try to keep Musiala long term

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer hopes Germany star Jamal Musiala will stay at the Bundesliga club in the long term.

"It is incredible what he has achieved and how he has developed," Hainer said about the 21-year-old attacker in a meeting at the Allianz Arena late on Monday.

"In my opinion, he could become the second Thomas Müller at Bayern and play here for the next 20 years."

Bayern will "do everything we can to tie him to Bayern Munich for the long term."

Musiala's contract with the German record champions runs until June 30, 2026.

"I think he really appreciates what he has at Bayern. He expresses that time and again," explained Hainer. "And of course we also know what we have in him."

The 70-year-old is "very hopeful and optimistic" that "we will see him at Bayern for a long time to come."

Musiala recently said he is not thinking about where he will be playing in five years' time.

But Hainer said such statements are completely "legitimate" and do not change his view that Musiala could match one-club man Müller's longevity.
