Swedish Queen Silvia visited Germany on Wednesday for talks on violence against children.

Silvia was received by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender at the Bellevue Palace in Berlin, before taking part in a round table alongside Interior Minister Nancy Faeser and Family Minister Lisa Paus.

The event was held to mark the 25th anniversary of the World Childhood Foundation, which Silvia co-founded in 1999 with the mission of helping children threatened by sexual abuse and violence.

Silvia, who was born in Germany, met her husband King Carl XVI Gustaf at the Munich Olympic Games in 1972.

Steinmeier and Büdenbender previously undertook a three-day state visit to Sweden in 2021.
