Borussia Dortmund coach Nuri Sahin hopes for a "clear reaction" from his team after the 5-1 Bundesliga defeat in Stuttgart.

They host third-bottom Bochum on Friday at the start of matchday five.

"We are all responsible and have hopefully learned our lessons. We need to get the three points," said Sahin, who replaced Edin Terzic after June's Champions League final defeat.

"There's no point in sugar-coating things. From the coaches to the substitutes, we weren't up for it. I wasn't in top form either. Nothing was right. That must not happen again."

Whether he will respond to the defeat in Stuttgart with a team overhaul, the coach left open.

"Just talking won't make us successful. We have to give our answers on the pitch," the former Dortmund midfielder told a news conference. "We knew there would be setbacks. But not in this form. We need to keep on our path and withstand the headwinds."

Teenage Belgium international Julien Duranville and new signing from Hoffenheim, Maximilian Beier, are options.

Sahin added: "With Julien, we definitely have to be cautious because of his injury history. But we have the feeling he is very, very close. The same goes for Maxi Beier. I was one of those who absolutely wanted him. Both will be very important for us this season."
