Jens Petter Hauge scored a brace and set up the other as 10-man Bodø/Glimt of Norway beat former European champions Porto 3-2 in the Europa League on Wednesday.

Samu headed Porto ahead four minutes into the league stage opener in Norway.

But the hosts were level 11 minutes later on the counter, with Kasper Høgh beating Diogo Costa off Hauge's pass.

Hauge made it 2-1 with a curling shot in the 40th and also grabbed the third in the 62nd, as Bodø/Glimt were undeterred by the dismissal of Isak Dybvik Määttä in the 51st for a second bookable offence.

Substitute Deniz Gül got a second for Porto in the 90th but the hosts held out for another memorable win in Europe against the Portuguese who have two titles each in the Champions Cup/League (1987, 2004) and the UEFA Cup/Europa League (2003, 2011).

Bodø/Glimt famously claimed a 6-1 triumph over Roma, then coached by Jose Mourinho, in the 2021-22 Conference League where they reached the quarter-finals.

The Europa League has undergone the same overhaul as the Champions League, with all 36 teams playing eight matches in a league stage which replaces the group stage.

The top eight advance into the last 16 and are joined there by the eight winners of play-offs between the teams ranked ninth to 24th.
