Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has refused to comment on reports linking the retired Wojciech Szczesny with the club but hinted they do need another goalkeeper.

Marc-André ter Stegen's knee injury leaves Iñaki Peña as the number one as Barca look to continue a run of seven straight league wins to start the season after Wednesday's 1-0 home win over Getafe.

"Iñaki Peña is 25 years old and the rest of the goalkeepers are very young. So we need to have experience if something happens," Flick told reporters.

Szczesny, 34, would be available outside of the transfer window as a free agent having left Juventus and retired in the close season.

"I understand the difficult situation that has arisen for them after Marc-André ter Stegen's injury and I think it would be disrespectful of me not to consider this option," Szczesny told Spanish newspaper Sport. Reports said a medical might even take place on Thursday.

Meanwhile his fellow Pole Robert Lewandowski sealed the win over Getafe with Barcelona's record 6,500th league goal. Arch-rivals Real Madrid are on 6,499 goals.

Barca reached the mark in only 3,035 league games, giving them an average of 2.14 goals per match.

Leaders Barça can equal the record of eight straight league wins to start the season at Osasuna on Saturday. Champions Madrid have already drawn two games.

"I'm very proud of my players," former Germany and Bayern Munich coach Flick said.
