Qatar says parallel tracks working on Lebanon, Gaza ceasefire talks

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said that he is not aware of any direct link between truce negotiations in Gaza and efforts towards a possible ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

"There is a track working on Lebanon, it is more pressing and there are many parties taking part with the aim of immediately stopping the war, and there is another track about Gaza," he told reporters in Doha.

"There is no doubt there is huge overlap between the two files, but there are parallel tracks working," he added.

Qatar, along with Egypt and the United States, has been mediating between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist Hamas movement for months to reach a deal on the Gaza Strip.
