Several Bodø/Glimt players can walk to their stadium for home games in Norwegian competition, but not so for European games where the team must arrive by bus, which led to a 220 metres journey on Wednesday.

The bizarre situation occurred ahead of their 3-2 upset win over former European champions Porto, broadcasters NRK said on Thursday.

NRK said that the team and staff got on the bus in front of a public authorities building and then drove to their stadium in one minute.

"UEFA wants us to arrive together," team manager Truls Bjerke told NRK, referring to the governing body which set up the rule.

Defender Villads Nielsen said: "Maybe it is a bit strange with the bus but we just make ourselves comfortable for the 30 seconds. It is about the feeling of unity, arriving together for the game."

The post-match situation was easier because UEFA has no rule for a joint departure.
