Russia's Lavrov rejects restart of global cooperation

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has unequivocally rejected a restart of international relations.

"What global cooperation can we really speak of when the West has trampled on all these unwavering values of globalization, which it has been telling us about from this podium for so many years," Lavrov said in front of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Recently, Russia distanced itself from the United Nations' future pact, which was supposed to be adopted unanimously by 193 UN members last Sunday.

At the same time, Lavrov categorically denied any responsibility on Russia's part for problems in the work of various United Nations bodies, such as the Security Council.

"The blame for this lies solely with the West," he declared. "The unprecedented level of arrogance and aggressiveness of Western policy towards Russia not only nullifies the idea of global cooperation propagated by the UN secretary general but also increasingly blocks the functioning of the entire world-order system, including the UN Security Council," Lavrov continued.

With regard to Russia's war against Ukraine, Lavrov detected a US-British conspiracy to destroy Russia. Secret plans had already envisaged the destruction of the then Soviet Union in 1945.

"But today's Anglo-Saxon strategists do not hide their plans," the Russian foreign minister claimed.

"They still count on defeating Russia through the hands of the illegitimate neo-Nazi regime in Kiev, but they are already preparing Europe to embark on a suicidal adventure."

In this context, he recalled the nuclear arsenals of the Russian armed forces and "the senselessness and danger of the idea of wanting to fight to the victory with a nuclear power, which Russia is."
