Germany captain Joshua Kimmich does not want to position himself on who should replace injured Marc-André ter Stegen in goal for the next national team matches.

Barcelona's ter Stegen is first choice after the international retirement of Manuel Neuer but sidelined for many months with a ruptured patella tendon in his right knee.

"It's very difficult to judge that now," Bayern Munich's Kimmich told broadcasters BR on Sunday.

"I'll be completely honest. I don't know enough about the goalkeeping position. I can't assess it enough. Of course we'll miss Marc a lot."

Coach Julian Nagelsmann will on Thursday nominate the squad for the next Nations League matches against Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Netherlands.

Hoffenheim's Oliver Baumann and Alexander Nübel were back-ups for ter Stegen at the September fixtures but are both uncapped.

Fulham's Bernd Leno was not picked lately due to injury but is now back in action. He has nine Germany caps, just like Eintracht Frankfurt's Kevin Trapp who is injured at the moment.
