Civilian air traffic in Iranian airspace has resumed 36 hours after it was shut down, a civil aviation authority spokesman told the official Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Thursday.

Iranian authorities shut down the country's airspace to civilian traffic on Tuesday evening in expectation of an Israeli counter-attack.

Despite the announcement, a number of international airlines are holding back from resuming flights to Tehran in the expectation that Iranian airspace could be closed in the event of an Israeli counter-attack.

In a video post on X soon after the Iranian missile attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, "Iran made a big mistake tonight - and it will pay for it."
