Fiorentina's Robin Gosens was called up by Germany on Tuesday for Nations League games with Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Netherlands after fellow left back David Raum became the sixth player to miss out on the squad through injury.

RB Leipzig's 26-year-old defender Raum has been ruled out with an ankle problem, handing a chance for former Atalanta, Inter and Union Berlin full back Gosens to stake a claim on the left alongside Stuttgart's Maximilian Mittelstädt.

Gosens, 30, has 20 caps but was not in the Euro 2024 squad.

Raum joins keeper Marc-André ter Stegen, defender Robin Koch, playmaker Jamal Musiala and strikers Niclas Füllkrug and Kai Havertz in missing out on the squad due to injury.

"It's difficult to absorb, because it's not as if we've had the core of the team for five years," captain Joshua Kimmich told a news conference.

"It's really crazy. It feels like half the team is gone and there are 10 new players."

Nevertheless, Kimmich said the aim remains to "play two successful games," which could mean last-eight qualification after just four of six Nations League matchdays.

Julian Nagelsmann's side play Bosnia in Zenica on Friday and are at home to the Dutch three days later as Germany look to stay top of Group A3.

Germany face Bosnia at home and Hungary away in November before a possible quarter-final in March.

There were 22 players at training on Tuesday, with Raum's Leipzig team-mate Benjamin Henrichs sitting it out with back problems. It was unclear how injured the right back was.
