Biden to call Scholz after postponing Germany trip

US President Joe Biden is planning to call German Chancellor Olaf Scholz later on Tuesday to discuss a planned trip to Germany he postponed at short notice due to Hurricane Milton.

"I'm going to be talking today with my friend, the chancellor of Germany, and we're going to try to work that out," Biden said during a short address on the hurricane at the White House.

Biden had initially been due to travel to Germany on Thursday, followed by a trip to Angola, but the White House announced earlier today that he would be delaying both visits due to the powerful hurricane, which is heading for the state of Florida.

"I'm still planning on visiting all the places I should be," the US president said.
