Tennis Olympic champion Bencic to make her comeback in Hamburg

Olympic champion Belinda Bencic will make her tennis comeback at a tournament in Hamburg on October 27-November 3, the city's tennis federation said on Wednesday.

The Swiss athlete, who won gold at Tokyo 2020, took a maternity leave and will return as a wildcard six months after giving birth to her daughter Bella.

"I want to test myself competitively to see what I need to work on to start the next season in top shape. I also want to see how we can manage the logistics of everyday life at the tournament with Bella," Bencic said.

The former world number four has won seven tournaments on the WTA Tour in the course of her career.
