Borussia Dortmund coach Nuri Sahin has asked for patience with his team despite the worst start to a season in 10 years.

"We won't allow ourselves to be swayed from our path. It would be fatal to raise doubts after six (Bundesliga) matchdays," Sahin said in a news conference on Wednesday.

Ahead of Friday's home game against promoted St Pauli Hamburg, Dortmund are seventh in the Bundesliga standings - four points behind leaders Bayern Munich.

"We are very, very confident in the path we are taking as a club and we will be successful in the end. I am sure of that," Sahin said.

However, the poor record in away games is particularly worrying. With just one point from three away matches, Dortmund, who have the strongest home form in the top flight, are only 16th in when counting only the games away from their Signal Iduna Park stadium.

Sahin admitted with this performance at away games "we won't achieve our goals."

He added that his full focus is "on the home game against St Pauli. The magic of this stadium is even more different under floodlights. It's something very special."

The coach said that Yan Couto, Karim Adeyemi, Julien Duranville and Gio Reyna are out, while Maxi Beier, Julian Ryerson and Niklas Süle are on "a race against time" to become available.
