RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose has welcomed the appointment of Jürgen Klopp as Red Bull's Head of Global Soccer from next year onwards.

"I'm looking forward to it. To be able to use his expertise, his experience, his charisma, his network and try to be successful together. It's a good story for everyone here," Rose told reporters on Friday.

Klopp was Mainz coach until 2008 when Rose played at the club who are also Leipzig's next opponents on Saturday in the Bundesliga.

"It was a very special time that we had together. A great community, a great group, we created something special in Mainz. We're very proud of that, which is why we're still in touch a lot," Rose said.

"We've seen, heard, written to and, of course, supported each other. Now he will do that in his new role here at the club."

Rose said he was personally informed by Red Bull managing director Oliver Minntzlaff about the appointment of Klopp who has also coached Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool, where he left in summer.

"I believe that Oliver has been working on this big coup for years. He has succeeded. I think it's a really cool, a good commitment for our club and for the multi-clubbing," Rose said.

Rose said he contacted Klopp right away after the appointment which also, mainly in Germany, led to some criticism on Klopp.

"Neither I - nor I think Kloppo - wants to make so much of this whole thing at the moment. Just let him start in January and get a feel for his role," Rose said.
