In brief: National Night Out, high school reunion and more in the South Hills
Neighborhoods throughout Pleasant Hills are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 30th Annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event. Residents are invited to join in the celebration with police, fire and medics by turning on their lights, locking their doors and coming outside to spend the evening with family members and neighbors. Residents are encouraged to host block parties, cookouts and youth activities. This is a great time for all age groups to get to know each other and build relationships. Emergency equipment from numerous public safety organizations will form a procession and travel throughout the borough, visiting neighborhoods. Groups or organizations from the area that wish to participate in the procession with their motorized units are invited to join public safety personnel in making this year’s event even bigger than those held in the past.

Susquehanna Regional EMS earns award from American Heart/Stroke Association
Williamsport, Pa. — UPMC in North Central Pa.'s prehospital services team, the Susquehanna Regional EMS, recently received recognition from the American Heart/Stroke Association. The 2024 Mission: Lifeline EMS Gold Achievement Award acknowledges the EMS team's continued success in using the Mission lifeline program, which showcases prehospital emergency responses to heart attacks and strokes. “This recognition demonstrates our team’s continued commitment to clinical excellence, providing outstanding care along with early notification to the emergency departments that they transport to,” said Tony Bixby, chief, SREMS, and director, Prehospital Services, UPMC in North Central Pa. “This great work has undoubtedly improved patient outcomes and saved lives throughout the north central region of Pa.”

Pittsburgh, PA – Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to return to the Pittsburgh area Monday, bringing late morning and afternoon rain chances. The highest probability for rain will be south and east of Pittsburgh, particularly in higher terrain areas. Bicyclist struck by car in downtown Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH — Police are looking for the driver who hit a bicyclist in downtown Pittsburgh and drove off.
