    2021-07-28

Located partly in California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is famous for its crystal-clear water. Whether you are coming for a romantic gateway or a family vacation – this place is perfect for everything. As a year-round destination, Lake Tahoe has so many things to do in every season whether it is winter summer, or fall. This lake is 1644 feet deep, which makes it the second deepest lake in the United States. The 22 miles long and 12 miles wide lake has around 72 miles of shoreline. The water of this lake is so clear that you will be able to see the bottom very clear even down 70 ft in some areas. The temperature of the lake is around 60 degrees during the summertime, and it never freezes during the winter despite being in a high elevation, which makes it perfect to visit any season.

    Emerald Bay State Park

Emerald Bay State Park is designated as a National Natural Landmark and underwater state park. Located on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, this state park is famous for its natural beauty and crystal-clear blue water. There are a lot of trails that lead to exotic beauties in this state park. You will be able to get some epic views of the lake from the Emerald Bay State Park lookout. You can also hike to Cascade Falls, which is around 40 minutes walk full of surrounding beauties. Kayaking in this pristine shoreline is quite something in Lake Tahoe. You probably have seen a hundred videos of people kayaking or paddleboarding in Lake Tahoe. If this is not on your bucket list, you should probably include it. If you are here, do not forget to visit the Vikingsholm mansion, which is one of the best examples of Scandinavian architecture and was built in the 1920s. The mansion hosts tours during the summer months. From Vikingsholm, there is another waterfall named Lower Eagle Falls, which is a 0.2-mile hike from the mansion.

    Bonsai rock

I wanted to include this rock as an individual destination because this rock is quite popular among photographers and is located on the east shore of Lake Tahoe. Though East shore drive is a scenic drive, I think it is worth it to check out this unique rock with trees growing out of it. The exact location of the rock is in between the Sand Harbor Overlook and Hidden Beach along Route 28. To be exact the spot is around 1-mile past Sand Harbor State Park. There is no marked trail or any sign there. From the GPS coordinate (39.1847, -119.9281), you have to find the way. Once you find a good spot to park your vehicle, look for the paths down to the water. Follow any of that directs towards the rock and you will be able to locate it.

There are a lot of activities to do in all parts of Lake Tahoe. The most popular activities are kayaking and paddleboarding in the beautiful blue water of Tahoe. Apart from this, you can always go for a gondola ride and sink in the view from the top. Rollercoaster, tubing, ropes course, zip line, and many more activities are available here. During winter skiing, snowboarding, etc. are quite popular here. Hiking, biking, water activities, winter activities, eateries, lake view, picnic- combinedly make a perfect Lake Tahoe vacation. While you are enjoying, please always practice "leave no trace" principles. Just a heads up, on many beaches and trails of Lake Tahoe, dogs are not allowed. Please make sure about it before you plan your visit with your pets.
