Pottsville Pizzeria Celebrates 75 Years of Tradition This Saturday
This Saturday, Pottsville Pizzeria will celebrate its 75th anniversary. The pizzeria has been serving the community with its classic pizzas and subs since the summer of 1949. The story of Pottsville Pizzeria began when Mrs. Paparazo and her three sons opened the first pizzeria in the area in the basement of their home at 441 Prospect St. The business quickly grew, leading to a move in September 1953 to a more convenient location at 530 N. Centre St. This relocation allowined for the development and expansion of their product offerings. It was here that the concept of unbaked pizzas for home baking was born, eventually evolving into the famous Packaged and Frozen Pizzas.
Cash Stolen from Vehicle in West Mahanoy Township near Frackville
The Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville are investigating a report of cash stolen from a vehicle in West Mahanoy Township. According to Troopers, on Sunday, July 21st, 2024, police investigated a report that some removed 20 $100 Bills, totaling $2,000 from the glovebox a GM Acadia which was unlocked and parked on South Line Street. Flash flood warning issued for Luzerne County early Wednesday evening
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning at 3:34 p.m. on Wednesday in effect until 5:30 p.m. for Luzerne County. "At 3:34 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1.5 to 2.5 inches per hour. Street flooding is ongoing and flash flooding is expected to begin shortly," according to the weather service. "Additional thunderstorms moving into the area will continue torrential rainfall over the next couple hours."
