Dripping Springs High School to remain in 6A

Athletic districts have been set for the next two academic years, allowing Dripping Springs High School and others to begin setting their schedules.

The University Interscholastic League announced district alignments for football, volleyball and basketball for the 2024– 2025 and 2025–2026 school years on Thursday, Feb. 1. With a growing enrollment of 2,484 students, DSHS will remain a Conference 6A school and be paired with six other schools in District 26-6A: Austin, Akins, Bowie, Westlake, Del Valle and Lake Travis High Schools. Of the nine previous schools in 26-6A, Anderson High School moved down to 5A, and Johnson High School moved south.

District coaches met to draw for the district schedule and then went off to schedule four non-district opponents. Schedules cannot be ratified until all protests have been settled. If allowed, Coach Galen Zimmerman's schedule will look like this: Vandegrift (T), SA Wagner (H), Harker Heights (?), Hays Johnson (?), Akins (T), Austin High (H), Bowie (T) Lake Travis (H), Del Valle (T), Open, Westlake (H).

Conference 6A is comprised of 249 high schools competing in football and basketball; 247, in volleyball. All have enrollments of at least 2,275 students.
