The Louisiana Bar Foundation recently installed its board of directors for 2024-25. Retired Ninth Judicial District Judge John C. Davidson, of Alexandria, is president. Davidson was elected as a district judge in 2004 and retired in September 2023. He began his private practice in New Orleans, working in the areas of complex commercial litigation and bankruptcy. Davidson moved to Alexandria in 1992 and continued his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, general defense work, personal injury and domestic law. He earned his law degree from the LSU Law Center, where he was order of the coif and a member of Louisiana Law Review.
Longtime, historic politician, attorney to lie in honor at Strand Theatre in Shreveport
A longtime and historic Caddo Parish politician will lie in honor at the Strand Theatre Friday before his funeral services are held there Saturday. Good Samaritan Funeral Home announced funeral arrangements this week for Willie James Singleton. Singleton was the first African American to run for mayor of Shreveport, as well as a Caddo Parish police juror and state legislator.

Black Bayou hosting Louisiana National Hunting and Fishing Day
MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge will be one of the hosts for Louisiana’s National Hunting and Fishing Day (NHFD). NHFD will be held on September 28 at Waddill Wildlife Refuge in Baton Rouge, Woodworth Shooting Range in Woodworth, the Tom Merrill Recreation Area at Bodcau Wildlife Management Area in Haughton, and Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge in Monroe.
