Free Concealed Carry Courses Scheduled for September
Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will host two free concealed carry courses on Saturdays in September. The courses will be held on September 7 and 21, 2024, at the LPSO Shooting Range at 3451 Highway 182 in Raceland. The free informational course will cover gun safety, storage, liability, and prohibited carrying locations. Residents are encouraged to take the training if they intend to carry a concealed firearm without a permit, also known as “constitutional carry.”
Accused house swindler charged with attempted murder, pleads not guilty
NEW ORLEANS — A man accused of stealing houses from at least seven different people using forged or fabricated deeds pled not guilty to attempted murder Monday for allegedly shooting a man in a February drive-by. Police allege Jonathan Burden pulled up in a car alongside a man who was friends with Burden’s ex-girlfriend and shot him in the right shoulder. The man alleged Burden fired about 10 shots into his car at about 7:30 p.m. February 1 and hit him once. The man, who did not want to be identified, said he was lucky to be alive.

METAIRIE, La (Biz New Orleans) – Abercrombie & Fitch is now open in the main mall across from the food court at Lakeside Shopping Center. William "Bill" Rouselle Jr., a longtime New Orleans political consultant, died Sunday at his Uptown home. He was 77. A New Orleans native and household name in local politics, Rouselle died just short of the 40th anniversary of Bright Moments, the public relations and marketing firm he founded with partner Kalamu ya Salaam. Rouselle and Salaam previously served as publisher and editor, respectively, of Black Collegian Magazine, a national publication based in New Orleans.
