MORSE TOWNSHIP—A 19-year-old male was flown to a Duluth hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries following an ATV crash Wednesday morning, according to a report from the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.

At 7:19 a.m. on Wednesday, the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Morse Fire Department, Morse First Responders and Ely Ambulance, were dispatched to the report of an ATV accident with injuries in the 3000 block of Wolf Lake Road in Morse Township. Once on scene, it was learned that a 19-year-old male driving a 4-wheeler had failed to navigate a left-hand turn in the road and entered the ditch where he struck a tree and was thrown from the ATV, according to the report. The male driver told the reporting party that the accident occurred hours earlier, and it did not appear he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to law enforcement.

The male was subsequently flown to a Duluth hospital to be treated for what law enforcement described as non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Morse Fire Department, Morse First Responders, Ely Ambulance and North Memorial Air Care.
