KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help finding a lead in the cold case of a woman’s murder.

Sunday, July 28, will mark the fifth anniversary of the shooting death of Alice Maria Washington, of Dunbar, according to the KCSO.

Deputies say around 3:24 a.m. on July 28, 2019, they were called to a home in the 100 block of Howard Avenue in the area of Dunbar and Institute. They say they found 52-year-old Washington shot to death in the doorway .

The sheriff’s office says that five years later, there have still been no arrests in the case, and they’re asking anyone who may have information to speak up.

“Detectives urge anyone with information about the events that left a family and a community devastated to come forward,” the KCSO said.

Anyone with any information that may help detectives find a break in the case can contact the KCSO Criminal Investigative Section at 304-357-0556 or submit a tip online .
