Nebraska to host 2026 quarterback on Friday
The Nebraska Cornhuskers will welcome a class of 2026 quarterback to Lincoln this weekend. Four-star prospect Jackson Taylor will be on the Lincoln campus on Friday, July 26. Taylor is a 6-foot-0, 170-pound quarterback for Thousand Oaks in Los Angeles, CA. In 13 games last season, he threw for 2,598 yards with a 56% completion percentage. He threw for 29 touchdowns and seven interceptions and finished the year with a quarterback rating of 111.3. Taylor holds multiple offers, but early indications are that the Auburn Tigers are the early frontrunners for his commitment. Nebraska’s class of 2026 has no commitments. The class of 2025 has 17 commitments and is ranked outside the top 25. NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A trial date has tentatively been set for a Gering man charged with killing a 1-year-old baby earlier this year. Tyler Green, 31, plead not guilty to intentional child abuse resulting in death charges, a Class 1B Felony. He is being held on a $1 million bond.

CHEYENNE COUNTY (July 25, 2024) -- Firefighters from several agencies battled a fire west of Sidney near Cheyenne County Roads 105 and 24 Wednesday. ST. LOUIS (AP) — Sixty people allege in new lawsuits filed in Missouri that they were abused as children by dozens of Catholic priests, nuns and others, and the man who now leads the Archdiocese of Omaha, Nebraska, is among the accused. Five separate lawsuits seeking unspecified damages were filed this week in St. Louis and neighboring counties. All told, the lawsuits name 56 alleged abusers. The suits seek unspecified damages. Among those named is Omaha Archbishop George Lucas. He is accused of abusing a teenage boy at St. Louis Preparatory Seminary in the late 1980s. Lucas strongly denies the allegations, saying in a statement that he has never had sexual contact with another person.
