The Frontier grows staff to expand coverage of Tulsa
The Frontier has hired Garrett Yalch to expand its coverage of Tulsa. Yalch will report on city and county government and other Tulsa-area news. Yalch grew up in Tulsa and graduated in May from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in philosophy. He served two summer internships for The Frontier while in college, reporting on economic and racial inequality, education and the environment. Yalch also previously did an internship with the KOSU news and public affairs radio program Focus: Black Oklahoma.

Tulsa, Okla. — An Owasso homeowners Association is asking residents to stay away from the ponds in their neighborhood due to blue-green algae which is killing the fish. The Lake Valley Home Owner’s Association in Owasso took to social media asking residents to steer clear of one of several neighborhood ponds, saying there is blue-green algae present. that combined with the heat, shallow waters in the pond, and the chemicals caused the carp fish that lived there to die.
