Graceland UMC's Pastor Drew called away on military leave

Graceland United Methodist Church Pastor Drew Shropshire will be away on military leave from May 17 through June 10.

Pastor Drew, a Network Communication Systems Specialist in the Maryland Army National Guard, will travel to Poland for annual training exercises. Immediately following that, he will be participating in the 29th Infantry Division’s D-Day celebration in France.

The 29th Infantry Division is known for the battle of the beaches of Normandy, specifically Omaha Beach. Omaha was the most difficult beach for the Allies to invade, with steep cliffs, heavy fortification and difficult terrain. The 29th Infantry were responsible for capturing to the west of the beach on June 6, 1944.
