DUNELLEN – Borough residents will continue to have their emergency dispatch services managed by Somerset County for another four years, thanks to an ordinance passed at Monday’s borough council meeting.

The Borough Council approved a Shared Services Agreement that extends a partnership Dunellen and Somerset County already have. The county will provide dispatch services to the Dunellen Borough Police Department, Dunellen Fire Department and Dunellen Rescue Squad until June 2028.

Somerset County will accept and send emergency calls for emergency vehicles in the borough, contact borough officials, keep a log of calls, and make reports at the request of the borough, around the clock.

The borough will pay the county nearly $580,000 over the course of those four years. There will be a 2% increase each year in the cost of services.
