PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Dunlap scored 11 runs with two outs in the fifth inning to blow up a close game and beat visiting Metamora, 11-1, on Wednesday.

The win keeps the Eagles in first place in the Mid-Illini Conference and insures they can do no worse than tie for the league title. Dunlap (23-6, 10-3 in Mid-Illini) shares first with East Peoria with one game left on the schedule.

EP beat Pekin, 12-5, to remain in a tie for the conference lead. Morton’s 6-2 win knocked Washington out of a three-way tie atop the league with Dunlap and East Peoria (23-6, 10-3).

The Mid-Illini season ends Thursday with three games: Dunlap at Metamora, East Peoria at Pekin and Washington and Morton. The Panthers (20-7, 9-4) and Potters (22-7, 9-4) are a game off the lead.

In the baseball postseason, Illini Bluffs, Havana, LeRoy and Ridgeview won class 1A regional semifinals. U-High, Canton and IVC won class 2A regional semifinal games.

In the softball postseason, Heyworth, A-town, Havana and Illini Bluffs won class 1A regional semifinals. U-High, Lexington and Brimfield won 2A semifinals.

Morton won a class 2A soccer regional game. Elmwood (1A meet at Farmington) and Eureka (2A meet at Pontiac) were boys track sectional runners-up on Wednesday.
