DUNLOW, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wayne County volunteer fire department is now back open and operational after having to close last week due to workers’ compensation issues.

Dunlow Volunteer Fire Department is now servicing calls in their area once again after their recent closure.

Closure for the department was due to the failure by the department to submit the required paperwork to their insurance carriers. Volunteer fire departments in West Virginia are required to maintain a valid workers’ compensation policy for all members of the department.

All emergency calls normally covered by this department were dispatched and handled by neighboring fire departments. No fire service coverage was affected during this time.
