DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Governor Josh Shapiro and Secretary of Revenue Pat Browne visited Robert Dougherty Dunmore High Rise in Lackawanna County on Monday.

They announced the distribution of property tax and rent rebates for 2023 starting on Monday.

The property tax and rent rebate program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 and older, widows, and widowers age 50 and older, and people with disabilities age 18 and older.

This historic expansion delivers more than 442,000 rebates totaling $266,000,000.

“Importantly, that, we would have a cola Attached to it so year after year as prices went up, so the property tax rent rebate and never get priced out again. We got that done a year ago and I’m here today in northeastern Pennsylvania on July 1 to tell you that the checks have been delivered and seniors all across Pennsylvania are getting the relief that they deserve today in Pennsylvania,” Governor Shapiro said.
