Politan Row at Ashford Lane will replace two existing restaurant stalls with two new food vendors serving Jamaican fare and birria tacos.

According to a release from the Politan Group, which owns Politan Row in Dunwoody and at Colony Square in Midtown, Tacos El Kohuich will open on July 28 and Bussin’ Jerk will open on August 9.

Tacos El Kohuich takes over the stall previously occupied by Pretty Little Tacos, whose owners will step back to focus on the upcoming birth of their second child.

Politan Row CEO Will Donaldson said Pretty Little Tacos remains open until July 21, with the owners of Tacos El Kohuich stepping in to renovate the space prior to its opening at the end of July.

Tacos El Kohuich, a Mexican concept from husband and wife Maria and Fray Cambron, will serve foods from their native Nayarit, Mexico, including birria, street tacos, and nachos.

The Cambrons often pop up with Tacos El Kohuich (“co-weech”) at markets around Atlanta on the weekends. They describe it as “a mashup of two indigenous tribes from Nayarit, from which Chef Fray derives inspiration.”

Bussin’ Jerk takes over the Smokehouse Q stall next to Bar Politan. According to the announcement, “Smokehouse Q decided to dial back its expansion to focus on its Roswell and Marietta locations.”

Bussin’ Jerk will open on August 9 for Jamaican jerk wings, smash burgers, and Philly cheesesteaks served on Jamaican coco bread.

Marlon, Kitty, and Sydonnie Broady will sell cuisine inspired by their Jamaican parents, who ran a restaurant in Montego Bay. Although the family owned and operated a food truck for years, this will be their first permanent restaurant location.

People can also expect to see changes at Okay Anny’s cocktail bar in the back of the building with the addition of two light-up dance floors.

Donaldson said the floors, designed with a Rubik’s cube theme in mind, will be located in two different areas on the corners of Okay Anny’s.

“We have found that people get caught up in the nostalgia of the music and the drinks,” Donaldson said. “This dance floor will help continue that vibe.”

The atmosphere should feel similar to another Politan Row cocktail bar, JoJo’s Beloved at Colony Square, named for figure skating champion JoJo Starbuck.  The vintage vibe of JoJo’s entices customers to step back to the age of disco glam in its design and drinks.

Okay Anny’s is a throwback to the aesthetic of the late 1980s and early 1990s with cocktails like the Kamikaze, Colorado Bulldog, and variations on the original Cosmo.

The configuration of Okay Anny’s with the new space will encourage not only dancing, but also, for those who simply want to people-watch, the installation of bar stools adjacent to the 8-by-8 foot floors.

“We are excited that we are going to be able to finish out this concept,” Donaldson said. “We hope to open the dance floors by the first week in August.”

Politan Row at Ashford Lane , which opened in February, features 10 restaurant stalls, two bars, and a private event space called the “Green Room.”

Donaldson said he is pleased with the trajectory of the Ashford Lane location and said even though the customer base is more defined by a distinctive lunch and dinner crowd, “the vibe at night feels like the same magic that you see at Colony Square.”
