Man sentenced to 50 years for killing disabled nephew
A former Bloomingdale man who strangled his blind nephew has been sentenced to 50 years in prison. Dominick Taylor, 54, pleaded guilty in February to one count of first-degree murder stemming from the death of Damian B. Scott, who had physical and mental disabilities and was unable to walk. Taylor was Scott’s primary caregiver, according to the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office.

National Weather Service predicts hazardous weather this evening
The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook late Saturday afternoon for north central and northeast Illinois including Kane, DuPage and Cook counties. A social media post from the NWS’ Romeoville office noted a squall line “is expected to move over northern Illinois tonight and sweep toward the southeast into early Sunday morning.”

The expansive exhibition highlights the culture of the ancient Olmec civilization in a fresh and accessible way. “Olmec Trails” pays tribute to the indigenous roots of Mexican heritage and brings attention to the importance of public art by showcasing the immense talent and creativity of 33 contemporary artists from across North America. In West Chicago, the four locations are Kruse House Museum, 527 Main St., West Chicago Public Library, 118 W. Washington St., Reed-Keppler Park, Fremont and West National St.; and Kline Creek Farm, 1N600 County Farm Road.

McHenry man pleads guilty to meth possession, gets 9 years in prison
A McHenry man pleaded guilty Tuesday to possessing 100 to 400 grams of methamphetamine and was sentenced to nine years in prison. Police initially went to the home of Luis E. Rangel, 28, the morning of April 7, 2022, as part of a DuPage County murder investigation. Rangel was not charged in that alleged murder, but during the search of the home authorities found 447 grams of methamphetamine, 4,537 grams of marijuana, a sawed-off shotgun and a rifle that didn’t have a serial number, prosecutors said in court documents filed in the McHenry County court.
