    Diamond Youth Baseball teams make a strong showing at the state tournament

    Duplin County baseball teams from coach pitch (7-8 year olds), division 2 of the AAA (9-10 year olds), and division 2 of the majors (11-12 year olds) made strong runs in the Diamond Youth Baseball State Playoffs this year with many teams advancing out of the pool play stages and deep into the double-elimination round.

    MajorsThe team that made one of the deepest runs of any team in the county was Wallace-Rose Hill who made it all the way to the final four where they lost to eventual champions Whiteville 10-3. Kennansville also made a good showing at the state tournament advancing all the way to the quarterfinals where they lost in a close 6-5 battle to Richlands.

    AAANorth Duplin and Wallace-Rose both represented Duplin County in AAA division two at the state tournament where Wallace-Rose was eliminated by North Duplin in a 11-7 defeat in the second round of double-elimination bracket play. North Duplin advanced all the way to the semifinals where they fell to champions Anson 8-3.

    Coach PitchAt the coach pitch level, Duplin County was represented by Rose Hill and South Central Duplin (representing Kennansville and Wallace athletes). At the tournament, South Central Duplin had the best showing as they reached the quarterfinals where they were defeated 10-7 by West Lincoln. Rose Hill was also eliminated by West Lincoln in a 13-8 defeat in the second round of double-elimination bracket play in the playoffs.
