Dustin’s First Alert Forecast: Showers & storms linger into the coming days; Heat returns next week
A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for Beaufort, Bertie, Craven, Duplin, Gates, Greene, Hertford, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Pitt, and Onslow Counties until 9:00 PM Thursday. With our wet start to the day, showers and storms will be off and on throughout the day, as rainfall amounts could range from the 1-3″ inches of rain. This is all associated with a stalled cold front that is lingering around the area. We will see a lull in the activity later tonight after sunset and clouds will take over for most of the viewing area. Friday will start out overcast with a few showers and storms, then becoming widespread and heavy at times throughout the day. An additional 2-4″ or more could cause more flooding concerns over the same areas as we go into the weekend. When all is set and done, several aeras could rack up over 4-5″ inches in a few isolated spots. As we go into Sunday, the remaining of the showers and storms will be more on the isolated and scattered side, but could bring another 1-2″ inches of rain to certain areas that see heavy rainfall this weekend.
