Mr Kent Kornegay Carlton, 62, of 325 Cornwallis Rd, Turkey, NC, passed way Monday June 24, 2024 at his home. Mr. Carlton was born December 15, 1961 to Bruce and Dixie Carlton. He was a 1981 graduate of Harrells Christian Academy and a graduate of Atlantic Christian College now Barton College. He worked as a farmer for many years and then as a truck driver for a while. U.S. 117 north of Teachey closing for drainage improvements at the end of the month
Residents of Teachey are advised to find alternate routes and allow extra commuting time starting July 22. According to the NCDOT, U.S. 117 north of Teachey is closing for an underground pipe replacement. The road should be reopened again by the end of the month. There will be a detour taking drivers to Charity Road, Interstate 40, N.C. 11 and N.C. 41. All drivers are advised to plan accordingly and be cautious.

Class of 1957 celebrates reunion with Chinquapin high school classmates
The 1957 graduating class of Chinquapin High School celebrated their 67th year reunion at Rose Hill Restaurant. There were 10 graduates, four spouses, and three guests who attended this special event over their meal together, sharing many memories of years together at Chinquapin High School. They looked back on the times spent together since graduation. It was just a fun time to be together, even though ones who could not attend were missed.
