Lima's NAACP financially supports students with 9th annual scholarship program
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The NAACP continues their tradition of investing in Lima's young people. Their 9th annual scholarship banquet selected four incoming college freshmen to receive funding. Winners were chosen based on their GPA and an essay about their goals for school and their careers. Scholarship recipient Malachi Talbert, who graduated from Lima Central Catholic, will be studying biology at Ohio State Lima starting this fall, and after graduation, he will continue his education working towards a career in the medical field.
‘Pipe bomb’ found by magnet fishers in Ottawa County
ROCKY RIDGE, Ohio — The Ottawa County Sheriff’s office says an explosive device was found in a rural area of the county on Saturday. Deputies say two people were magnet fishing when they found what looked like a “pipe bomb” in the area of State Route 590 and West Toussaint North Road just north of Rocky Ridge.
Maumee's murky waters: The ruinous consequences of an environmental crime
For more than 24 years, city of Maumee employees routinely reported to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency that the town was not discharging sewage into the Maumee River.
