DUPONT – If you live in Greater Pittston, there’s a good chance you’ve seen Bob Price racing around, with camera in hand, shooting photos of all types of events. Bob does not work for an agency, but he shoots photos for the love of photography and donates all of his photos via social media.

Chosen the 2017 Greater Pittston’s Sunday Dispatch Person of the Year, Bob, a councilman at Dupont Borough, recently suffered a medical issue whereby having his left leg amputated.

The community has been rallying behind Bob and a few fundraisers have been created in his name to help out with expenses.

Bob, along with the aide of his wife, Ellen, have been doing their best to get out and shoot photos at some events, but it will be some time before he can get fully adjusted to his new life’s situation.

In the meantime, don’t be surprised if you see Ellen and Bob at an event, once again, with camera in hand.

According to Lois McHugh, a member of Holy Mother of Sorrows Polish National Catholic Church, Dupont, the church, along with United Community Volunteers, have teamed up to hold a ziti and meatball benefit dinner and basket raffle fundraiser titled “Bob Price – Photographer for the Community” from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the church, 212 Wyoming Ave., Dupont.

The benefit is an eat-in or take-out event to include salad, ziti, meatballs, and dessert. Cost is $10 per adult and $5 for a child 5-10 years old. Children under 5 eat free.

For tickets, call 570-881-0770 or 570-299-9430.

Bob’s friend, John Kurzeja of Allentown, has also set up a GoFundMe account in Bob’s name, this past week. Donations can be made at tinyurl.com/anvxt5wa .
