From June 4-9, the Durham Bulls hosted the Gwinnett Stripers in a six-game series.

The Bulls took four wins in the series and are now just three wins below .500.

    Game one

The Bulls took game one in dominant fashion, setting the tone for the series with a 10-3 victory.

Curtis Mead led the Bulls in scoring on a hit and two walks. These resulted in two RBIs and three runs. This includes a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth.

Tristan Peters was one of three players with two hits. These resulted in three RBIs and a run. Peters also had a home run, hitting a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth. His other hit was a two-RBI triple in the bottom of the seventh to give the Bulls an eight-run lead.

    Game two

The Stripes held the advantage through much of the game, and with a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the eight, the victory seemed all but guaranteed.

The Bulls caught heat in the eighth. Ruben Cardenas reached home on a grounder by Kameron Misner to get the Bulls on the board.

With two outs, Taylor Walls doubled on a fly ball to left field, scoring René Pinto and Misner. This tied the game at three each.

On the next at-bat, Jonathan Aranda homered to right, bringing home Walls and himself to take a 5-3 lead, which they held onto for the 5-3 win.

    Game three

Durham was downed with ease in game three, falling 17-3.

Austin Shenton was the only one who found success at the plate as he was responsible for all three runs for the Bulls. Shenton put up a two-run homer in the bottom of the first and stole home on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth.

    Game four

The Stripers kept the momentum high and had the Bulls’ number in game four as well, taking the 10-1 victory.

Shenton was the only player with more than one hit for the Bulls but none resulted in runs.

Heriberto Hernandez was the only Bull with a run, scoring on a grounder by Curtis Mead.

    Game five

The Stripers got on the board early in game five, scoring a run in the top of the first but the momentum they held in the previous two games ended there, as the Bulls scored seven runs in the first four innings.

These include solo home runs by Ronny Simon and C.J. Hinojosa.

The 7-3 win for the Bulls gave them back the series lead with one game to go.

Shenton had a single in the first and a double in the second, leading to three RBIs of the Bulls’ five.

Shane Baz had a dominant performance on the plate, throwing 10 strikeouts in five innings pitched while allowing only three hits and a run.

    Game six

The Bulls took home the series with an 11-2 victory over Gwinnett in game six.

Aranda had an impressive performance, hitting four for two RBIs and three runs.

    Up next

The Bulls next host the Charlotte Knights from June 11-16 in a six-game series.

Charlotte sits dead last in the east of the International League and 4.5 games behind Durham.
