A boil water advisory issued Friday for a section of Durham has been lifted.

An area in northwest Durham was experiencing periods of low pressure and outages because of low pressure caused by operational issues. This increases the potential for back siphonage, along with an introduction of bacteria into the water.

City officials said that based on the results of water samplings, Durham Water no longer advises the impacted residents to boil water used for human consumption.

"This advisory has been precautionary. We believe our water met, and continues to meet, all water quality standards throughout the advisory," the City of Durham said in an update. "If you continue to have any ongoing concerns, please reach out to our Distribution System dispatch at (919) 560-4344."
