From July 1-6, the Durham Bulls took on the Norfolk Tides in a six-game series, winning four of the six games. This marked their first series win in a month, the last occurring when they took down the Gwinnett Stripers in four of six games.

    Game one

The Tides took the first game of the series, earning a narrow 3-2 victory.

Both teams put up a run in the fifth.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Tides added two runs, taking a 3-1 lead with one inning left to play.

The Bulls had some fight left in them, putting up a run in the following frame. They could not manage a second run, however, giving them the loss.

Curtis Mead looked good in the loss. No Bull had more than one hit or any RBIs except for Mead who had three hits for two RBIs.

    Game two

After a low-scoring first game in the series, the two teams could not stop finding home, combining for 25 runs in game two.

The Bulls narrowed out the win, scoring a run in the ninths to take down the Tides 13-12 after going into the final inning tied at 12.

Eight Bulls were responsible for two or more runs. Rene Pinto led two runs and four RBIs on three hits, being responsible for six runs.

    Game three

The Bulls finished their trio of road games with a 3-2 victory in extra innings.

The Bulls held a 1-0 lead, due to a home run by Kameron Misner, for seven and a half innings before the Tides took a one-run lead with two runs in the bottom of the right.

Bob Seymour came up in the clutch with an RBI single that sent home Jake Mangum to score, tying the game with two outs in the ninth.

The score remained tied until the top of the 11th when Mangum stole home off a wild pitch. The Bulls held the Tides scoreless in the following frame to take the narrow victory.

    Game four

The fourth game saw the Tides dominating the Bulls despite seven runs scored. The Tied put up 17 runs, with eight coming in the top of the ninth.

This came off 17 runs by the Tides and poor 11 walks allowed by the Bulls.

    Game five

Following the significant loss, the Bulls got right back in the driver’s seat and took a 5-2 win.

Pinto played a significant part in the win at the plate, putting up a team-high three hits, two runs and two RBIs, being responsible for four of the team’s five runs.

    Game six

The Bulls finished the series with a win to win the series, downing the Tides 14-5.

The Tides took a 2-0 lead in the opening frame but the Bulls responded with four runs to take the two-run lead.

After two empty innings, the Tides dropped three runs to retake the lead, but after another empty inning, the tide turned far in the Bull’s direction.
