Following a severe thunderstorm Monday afternoon, Tuesday will be hotter with feels-like temperatures around 100.

Actual temperatures will reach near 90. There is a chance of scattered showers and storms in the afternoon, likely continuing overnight.

Monday's storm brought flash flooding to some areas, including a service road alongside 15-501 in Durham. The driver of a white truck crashed into a hole in the ground while trying to cut the corner and avoid the flooded part of the service road.

Dangerously, the crashed truck rested on top of a natural gas line. Because of that, emergency crews had to take extra precautions when working to pull the truck out of the hole.

In Raleigh, more flash flooding trapped a car in quickly rising water. It happened at East Millbrook Road and Hoyle Drive around 4:30 p.m. Traffic in the area was detoured toward Capital Boulevard, causing major backups.

ABC11 crews on the scene said the water flooding East Millbrook Road was around 2 feet deep.

There are no reports of serious injuries from the storms.

There is a break in the soggy pattern by the weekend with temperatures in the mid to high 80s.
