MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A few days after a software issue grounded flights across the country, Delta Air Lines is continuing to have problems, including at Raleigh-Durham International Airport .
By 5 a.m. Tuesday, 17 flights operated either by Delta or regional carrier Endeavor Air, which flies shorter routes on smaller aircraft under the Delta name, had already been canceled, according flight tracking website FlightAware . By 7 a.m., that number had increased to 19.
Five Endeavor Air flights, all between RDU and the three New York City airports — John F. Kennedy International, LaGuardia and Newark Liberty International — are among those canceled. The other 14 are Delta flights to or from other airports around the country, including their hubs in Atlanta, Detroit and Salt Lake City.
As of 10:45 a.m., over 50 flights into or out of RDU are also delayed. Twenty-five of those are Delta/Endeavor flights, with another dozen delayed on American Airlines.
Passengers have had a tough time getting help from the airline.
“I feel like Delta’s not really caring right now,” said traveler Kerry Abercrombie. “The other airlines have gone up so much. It’s going to cost over $3,000 to $4,000 to get us home, and right now, we don’t have that.”
On Tuesday morning, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg posted on social media that his agency has “opened an investigation into Delta Air Lines to ensure the airline is following the law and taking care of its passengers during continued widespread disruptions.”
“All airline passengers have the right to be treated fairly, and I will make sure that right is upheld,” Buttigieg posted.
No other airlines reported cancellations to or from RDU early Tuesday morning.
Travelers flying on Delta are encouraged to check their flight status with the airline.
