JSRHS offers freshman transition program
Knowing that the transition between middle and high school is a significant milestone in a young person’s life, John Stark Regional High School is offering a program specifically designed for incoming freshmen. We are John Stark! is a two-week program designed to provide an introduction to the school, continued practice and development of executive functioning, collaborative and other academic skills, as well as key social/emotional competencies. It is ideal for any incoming ninth-grade student looking to sharpen skills, engage in collaborative learning experiences, become familiar with our work-study practices and school norms, and have fun. Students who have struggled in eighth grade are especially encouraged to participate in the program in order to best prepare for a successful transition to high school. Upon successful completion of this program, students will earn 10 service learning hours.

“We are excited to announce that we have some interesting little friends traveling to our Methuen Adoption Center this week!. 51 Sugar Gliders were rescued in Puerto Rico this spring and are on their way to Massachusetts to find new homes. The Sugar Gliders have been cared for by the Carribbean Manatee Conservation Center since their rescue, as they are not legal to own as pets in Puerto Rico. @humanesociety and @sthubertsanimal are helping us to transport the Sugar Gliders, which will arrive in Methuen on Wednesday!
