Over 170 residents crowded into Lehman Township’s municipal hall and the parking lot for a hearing on the township’s first solar project. Susquehanna Solar, a South Carolina company, wants to build a 46-acre solar farm on agricultural land in Lehman Township, Luzerne County. Residents packed the July 15 conditional use hearing, demanding the township move the meeting to a larger location where all interested residents could hear the meeting.
Couple charged for allegedly not feeding children, locking them in room
Sunbury, Pa. — The children of Alexis Marie Anstey, 27, and David Joseph Heller, 34, of Sunbury, told police they had been locked inside their room for 10 hours and hit with various items, including a belt. Anstey and Heller now face a combined 48 charges for the alleged incidents which police began investigating on June 29, 2023. Tornado warning issued for Lycoming and Sullivan counties Monday evening
A tornado warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Monday at 6:11 p.m. in effect until 6:45 p.m. for Lycoming and Sullivan counties. "At 6:11 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Muncy Valley, moving east at 55 mph," states the weather service. "Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely."
