Another South Shore baseball prospect went off the board in this year's MLB Draft.

With the 450th overall pick in the 15th round, the San Diego Padres selected Duxbury native and former Milton Academy pitcher Tanner Smith on Tuesday.

Smith, who has spent the summer with the Falmouth Commadores of the Cape Cod Baseball League, finished up a junior season at Harvard this spring in which he made 13 appearances and four starts for the Crimson.

The 6-foot-6 right-hander had an 8.49 ERA, 2.14 WHIP and 2-2 record with one save, 29 strikeouts over 23⅓ innings. Opponents hit for a .235 average against him this year.

A career bullpen arm for Harvard, Smith missed his sophomore season due to injury. He made 16 appearances as a freshman in 2022, tallying 38 strikeouts over 34 innings of work with a 5.50 ERA.

Smith, while a student at Duxbury High, won a hockey state championship with the Dragons in 2019 before transferring to Milton Academy and graduating high school in 2021.

Smith is the second South Shore arm selected on Tuesday, following Hanover and BC High product Shea Sprague, who was the 13th-round selection of the Boston Red Sox.
