Hazardous waste collection coming to Central Illinois in September
BLOOMINGTON – If you have hazardous waste, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency is making it easier for you to get rid of it. The Illinois EPA is hosting numerous hazardous waste collections in partnership with local governments this fall. On Sept. 28, you can get rid of your waste at McLean County Fairgrounds in Bloomington.

13-year-old arrested for shooting, police chase Friday in south Peoria
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A 13-year-old boy was arrested Friday after he allegedly fired gunshots in a south Peoria neighborhood and then tried to evade police. According to a weekend incident report from Semone Roth, a spokeswoman with the Peoria Police Department, just before 7:30 p.m., officers with the department responded to the 900 block of West Smith Street regarding a ShotSpotter alert about three fired gunshots just blocks away from John H. Gwynn Jr. Park in south Peoria.

LP to Peoria runners hand $65,000 check to St. Jude Telethon Saturday
Forty-two experienced runners completed the 60 mile trek to Peoria Saturday for the annual St. Jude Run. They started at 5am from St. Bede, ran in fine weather and covered the distance in about eleven hours. Every runner – on average – covers about three miles. Organizer, Kelly Schaefer is a Speech Language Pathologist for Peru schools. She told 103-9 WLPO that running into the Civic Center during the annual telethon means a lot - especially to new runners:

Coach Tara Backes's softball team hasn't seen any serious competition all weekend at the State Tourney in Evergreen Park. Backes told us the 8 – 10 year old All-Stars beat Twin Rivers – in the early game Saturday – 10 – 0. Ekko Baima had a triple and eight out of eleven players provided hits. Quinn Holman pitched three innings and Maeve Brandt pitched one inning in the four inning game.
